It’s a busy time in Aged Care and our new team of mobile aged care professionals has been created to help us manage the staffing challenges created by COVID-19. As part of the Uniting Flying Squad, you’ll be deployed to any of our aged care services in NSW & ACT in the event of an outbreak or to meet other emergency staffing needs   – so you need to be super flexible and very mobile. In return, you’ll be well rewarded and supported including an offer of permanent employment at the end of your Flying Squad term*.

As a Uniting Flying Squad team member, you can be deployed for 1–2-week periods to any one of our Aged Care Facilities in NSW & ACT at short notice to fill emergency staffing needs. And by short notice, we’re talking 12-24 hours. So, it’s likely to be a little different from the aged care role that you may be used too.

 To qualify as a Uniting Flying Squad team member, you’ll need to:

  • Be a qualified Enrolled Nurse (EN)
  • Be available to work full time.
  • Be ready, willing, and flexible to be deployed to any Uniting work location in NSW or ACT.
  • Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19; and
  • Meet our usual employment checks. 

In return, we are offering generous benefits including:

  • A Permanent offer of employment*.
  • An hourly rate 20% above the competitive Uniting EA base rate for the duration of your deployment plus shift loadings and penalties.
  • An hourly rate 50% above the Uniting EA base rate when deployed to a Residential facility during an actual COVID-19 outbreak (Residents) plus shift loadings and penalties.
  • COVID related sick leave over and above our usual entitlements.
  • Paid accommodation near your work location where required.  
  • Paid flights & other associated travel costs; and
  • A meal allowance of $72.32 per day when required to live away from home while on deployment.
  • Counseling Services – free and confidential program provided by Benestar; and
  • Pastoral support through Uniting’s Chaplaincy and Pastoral Practice team
