The Vinnies Family

Vinnies has local volunteer groups across Australia, known as conferences, which provide a hand up to people in need. They visit people in their homes, or in a local community setting, to provide support and practical assistance. Food, vouchers, clothing, furniture, budget support and back to school expenses.

Retail

Vinnies Shops provide a major source of income for our local welfare programs, and are supported by an extensive network of generous preowned donations from the community.

If you’re looking for a career that is rewarding in every way, take a look at our job vacancies. The St Vincent de Paul Society provides exciting career opportunities for people who want to apply their professional skills in a job that gives back to the community.

We employ more than 2,500 people across Australia in all kinds of roles, from social workers and health experts to IT and store managers. The St Vincent de Paul Society offers its salaried staff salary packaging. Salary packaging is one of the many benefits of working in the community sector. Salary packaging, sometimes called salary sacrificing, is a popular way of providing employees in the community sector with tax benefits over and above their salary. It means the real value of a salary package can be significantly higher than the nominal value.

The St Vincent de Paul Society has professional development policies in place to make sure that your career keeps growing while you’re working with us. What’s more, we believe in families, so we like to provide a family-friendly environment in which to work.

Become a volunteer

By volunteering, you can be sure you’re making a difference for those in need. For some Vinnies volunteers, this is a chance to give something back to the community, to use their skills and experience to make a difference in the lives of people who need assistance the most. For others, it is a chance to develop new skills and experience in a supportive environment.

Make a difference in your own life too

Volunteering for Vinnies is a rich and rewarding experience. As a volunteer, you’ll benefit from:

  • The satisfaction of helping others
  • Sharing your skills and teaching others
  • Learning new skills
  • The sense of community and friendship.

 Volunteering in a retail centre

Vinnies has hundreds of stores Australia wide. Revenue raised from the stores allows for the continuation of vital services Vinnies runs across the country.

Retail volunteer roles include Retail Assistant and Donation Sorting volunteers.

In this video Canberra Dickson store manager Simon Felgate discusses the importance of volunteers at his store. He says without their generosity, stores would find it very difficult to operate.
