About the Opportunity 

 

We are seeking Expressions of Interest for future opportunities in the Family Preservation team.  

As a Case Worker your role will be to engage families from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and work in partnership with them to achieve their goals and address child safety concerns. This role requires a passionate and sensitive professional to work collaboratively within our team to build parenting and family capacity. You need to have a sound understanding of child protection, assessment skills, strong communication and the ability to build positive working relationships. You will be working with families to ensure that they are safe, supportive and nurturing.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide culturally responsive and strengths-based support to families in all aspects of service provision. 

  • Facilitate and participate in the development of the family’s case plan inline with program model/timelines 

  • Deliver the practice framework for working with families affected by Domestic Violence and other approved interventions 

  • Provide support to parents/carers to develop their skills by role-modelling and teaching strategies as appropriate 

  

What you need to succeed 

  • Identifies as an Aboriginal person and able to provide appropriate evidence of Aboriginal identity that satisfies the accepted definition of an Aboriginal person 

  • Relevant qualification in Community Services with at least 3 years experience working with children and families using a strengths-based approach 

  • Demonstrated understanding of the principals of early intervention. 

  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and the ability to identify and address these issues with families when required 

  • Experience of working with diversity including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse families. 

  • Proven communication skills and the ability to identify needs, strengths and potential risks. 

  • Must hold a current WWCC and Drivers licence
