Frontier International is a live export company with a geographical focus on northern Australia. Frontier’s business activities require it to hold cattle in quarantine prior to export. In 2018, FIN exported approximately 130,000 cattle within Australia and loaded more than 40 export consignments with the majority through the port of Darwin. Frontier exports a range of cattle from light feeder & productive cattle through to heavy slaughter including females and males.
Our mission is to be the supply partner of choice for leading livestock customers in selected world markets. We are well positioned for growth and currently offer an exciting opportunity for a Live Export Officer to join our Darwin team.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with our management team and key stakeholders, your key focus will be on the smooth and efficient co-ordination of the livestock export process including the end to end supply chain (property of origin, pre-export quarantine, sea freight, animal welfare on board, discharge at port of destination) and operational requirements. You will liaise with transport partners, stockmen, relevant Government departments to ensure that the live cattle export consignment is carried out in line with expectations including government regulations and animal welfare standards. You will maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Government departments (DAWR) and seek ways to improve business practices and processes. In addition, you will receive mentorship and be trained up as a support cattle buyer including the purchase of cattle to meet customer specifications and market requirements.

About You

To be successful you must demonstrate some knowledge of livestock selection and handling. In addition, you will demonstrate a high attention to detail and high standards in the completion of documentation and compliance procedures. You will demonstrate strong communication skills and commercial acumen together with the ability to interpret information and data to make sound recommendations. Although not essential, exposure to Livestock/Agribusiness and including animal welfare will be well regarded, as is Vietnamese or Indonesian language skills. Also, the willingness to work flexible hours which will include weekends & public holidays.
