Two of Visy\u2019s current graduates joined us for a great catch-up on their roles, life as a grad with Visy, and what makes the program such a great place to start your career.<\/p>\n

In my current rotation, I am working on some projects and working with the business process improvement (BPI) team.<\/p>\n
One of the projects I am working on is about learning how logistics and warehouses on-site operate and what challenges they have. Then we, the BPI team, will find a way to improve it, make it primarily automated, and easily and quickly adapt.<\/p>\n
We also create standard operation procedures (SOPs) so fleet controllers\/ fleet allocators can follow the steps and ensure all their performance is the same.<\/p>\n
So far, my favourite part is working with the team. Whenever it comes to a new project, we have training together and get lists of things to complete.<\/p>\n
We collaborate to present the solution and see how the project finishes and performs following our plans.<\/p>\n
The best piece I was given was “always try to be proactive”. People in logistics are very helpful and supportive but aren\u2019t always able to catch up with you daily.<\/p>\n
So it\u2019s always better to be proactive, prepare everything first, and get involved and ask for advice.<\/p>\n
You can also ask for feedback at the end of the month to see how you performed during the past period.<\/p>\n
Currently, I’m across three major projects spanning the glass business, working as a project engineer at Spotswood, where we are currently commissioning four conveyor-type AGVs and seven forklift-type AGVs.<\/p>\n
I am also heavily involved in the layout and design phase of the AGV project for Visy Glass Penrith. This project ties into the major furnace upgrade of SP4 in Penrith, run by Build Run Repair. This comes to life in December this year.<\/p>\n
In addition to these projects, I have also been working with some of the team from Visy Glass Adelaide to scope out additional modifications that can be made to the current fleet of AGVs to better utilise the automation productivity of their current system experiences.<\/p>\n
So far, it has far-and-away been the amazing people I’ve had the pleasure of working with.<\/p>\n
From people within my team to the contractors we work with and the operations members we liaise with.<\/p>\n
It has been their positive and solution-oriented attitude that has truly helped me enjoy the work I do.<\/p>\n
A manager of mine suggests after every challenge we face, we take a few seconds to ‘smell the roses’ and reflect and enjoy the positive aspects of our work.<\/p>\n
This has helped my problem-solving ability, allowing me to do so with a completely cleared mind.<\/p>\n
