When you hear STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), we know that many people get stuck on the ‘science’ bit – and why not?

There’s a lot of exciting stuff happening in our world and plenty of opportunities to explore science as a scientist.

But there’s a LOT happening in the associated fields, too!

EY wants to showcase just how diverse a career in STEM can be, especially for young women and girls keen to see what others like them are doing and how they got there!

Keep reading to hear from current EY Consultant Dayna Pereira in their Digital and Emerging Technology team to learn more.

Hi, my name is Dayna Pereira, and I’m a Consultant working in the Digital and Emerging Technology team within Technology Consulting. I joined EY as a graduate in March 2022 after graduating with a Master of Information Systems in 2021.

I could tell when I was being interviewed that the other people working in the Digital and Emerging Technology team were warm, kind and friendly.

And I have chosen to stay at EY because of the ability to work on a variety of different clients and project types.

I have worked on both an operating model strategy and a demerger and can honestly say there are probably not a lot of organisations out there that provide exposure to both!

One of my favourite things I have done at EY is participate in initiatives designed to have a social impact on the community as part of EY Ripples.

For example, mentoring primary school students and encouraging them to improve their literacy skills. Further, I have been involved in several panels where graduates describe their experiences of working to incoming vacationers and graduates.

I have also been lucky enough to participate in training, both on and off the job, in technologies such as cloud computing.

I would encourage future students considering a career with EY to remember that your first few years out of university are a great time to explore what you enjoy doing and where you find your purpose.

Meet Dayna

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your current role?

Why did you choose to join EY?

What learning and development opportunities have you participated in at EY?

What advice would you give future students considering a career with EY or studying a similar degree/background?
