DTP plans, builds and operates an integrated, sustainable and safe transport system for Victorians.<\/p>\n
Environmental sustainability is a key priority for DTP, as it is for the Victorian Government. We recognise that the transport network is a public space that contributes to healthy, sustainable and liveable communities.<\/p>\n
On 1 July 2019, VicRoads and Public Transport Victoria came together with the Department of Transport to create a properly integrated transport department \u2013 in step with other global cities.<\/p>\n
The new Department of Transport and Planning gives us a singular, integrated focus on tackling the big issues. The integrated Department of Transport and Planning plans and operates transport in a way that matches the people and products that travel on it \u2013 focusing on the destination, rather than which mode we use.<\/p>\n

The new Department\u2019s structure reflects the importance of working with the Major Transport Infrastructure Authority. Working together allows us to meet the transport needs of Australia\u2019s fastest-growing state and economy, while managing a record $70-billion investment in infrastructure.<\/p>\n
