While on an Army Combat Gap Year, you\u2019ll gain skills for life in one of three combat roles: Infantry Soldier, Artillery Operator or Combat Engineer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 12-month experience will arm you with skills and knowledge to contribute to your career journey inside or outside of the Australian Defence Force. After completing the Gap Year, you\u2019ll have the opportunity to leave or continue your Army employment in a full-time or part-time capacity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the moment you start your Gap Year experience, you\u2019ll be trained to be part of a highly skilled team to handle any situation and keep the Army moving.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It isn\u2019t just reserved for people that are straight out of school. It\u2019s a unique opportunity where you\u2019ll get the chance to try out a year in Defence, learning how to fulfil a combat role that\u2019s unlike any other. You\u2019ll get paid to travel and gain invaluable life and work experience, while making friendships that could last a lifetime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One you complete your initial military training, you\u2019ll grow your skills and expertise in one of the following roles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Infantry Solider<\/strong> where you\u2019ll form part of an Infantry combat team and be armed with advanced weapons and equipment, or<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Artillery Operator<\/strong> where you\u2019ll operate artillery weapons and provide vital artillery support to Army combat operations, or<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Combat Engineer<\/strong> where you\u2019ll learn about military field engineering and gain skills in bridge-building, minefield clearance, field defence construction and demolition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Life in the Army Gap Year Program: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Action, adventure, exciting career opportunities and amazing mateship \u2013 the Army Gap Year Program is a one-year commitment that takes you out of the office and into barracks, training exercises and the field itself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s also the unique sense of accomplishment and pride that comes from serving your country and providing support to communities in need, both here and overseas.
