Today’s March 8th – and you know what that means!
💜👏 It’s International Women’s Day 2024 👏💜
As we celebrate International Women’s Day for another year, it’s crucial to reflect on the strides we’ve made towards gender equality and the work still ahead.
This year’s theme, #InspireInclusion, encourages us to foster environments where every voice is heard and valued, especially in the world of work.
What is International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global celebration of women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. The day is a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
It aims to raise awareness about gender equality and advocate for women’s rights.
IWD has occurred for over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people.
Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere.
#InspireInclusion: A Look at This Year’s Theme
Inclusion is the foundation of a thriving workplace. It means creating environments where everyone feels respected, valued, and supported.
To inspire inclusion in our schools, workplaces, and communities, you can take action by:
- Reading about inclusion, what it means, and why it matters in the different environments you work and study in.
- Advocate for inclusive policies and practices by joining groups at school or in your local community.
- Speaking up when you notice something that could exclude different groups – whether at school or work.
Read more about what it means to inspire inclusion at the dedicated International Women’s Day website here.
How Explore Careers #InspiresInclusion
We proudly partner with supportive employers who prioritise diversity and inclusion.
Through our diversity badges, we highlight their commitment to gender diversity and support initiatives that promote equal opportunities for women in the workforce.
When you see our Gender Diversity badge on an employer’s profile, you can rest assured that they offer the resources to help you get ahead. This includes:
- Fully support young women in their workplace.
- Offer targeted programs to support your career growth, from getting ahead in traditionally male-dominated industries to inspiring female leadership programs.
- Provide mentoring and ongoing support from professional women who’ve been where you are.
- Female-led professional communities to help you get to where you want to be in the world of work.
