What is Farm Safety Week?

With heavy-duty equipment like tractors, quad bikes, and side-by-sides being very common in agricultural environments, farms can be dangerous workplaces for the unprepared. To cultivate awareness and education around on-farm risks, Farm Safety Week runs from the 16th-23rd of July and is aimed at encouraging safe procedures.

This Year’s Theme: In Safe Hands

According to Farmsafe Australia, this year’s theme, ‘In Safe Hands,’ explores ‘the importance of Australia’s farmers, farming families and the Australian agricultural industry being in safe hands.’

What’s more, each day will be jam-packed with information on different topics, including:

Sunday: Launch of the ‘In Safe Hands’ theme and the 2024 Safer Farms Report

Monday: Support and Wellbeing

Tuesday: Active Supervision of Children on Farms

Wednesday: The Critical Importance of First Aid Training

Thursday: Livestock Handling

Friday: Aging on Farm

Saturday: Seatbelt Use

Why is Farm Safety Week So Important?

Our farmers look after all of us by providing us with nourishing, fresh food, and we need to return the favour by making sure their workplaces keep them safe too!

Education and prevention are key to keeping farmers safe, and that’s where National Farm Safety Week comes in! Their resources and talks reveal a tonne of super-valuable safety tips to keep our farmers in tip-top shape.
