During your Army Gap Year experience, you’ll gain skills for life in one of three rewarding Army Support roles. You’ll be supported throughout your training by professional and enthusiastic Army personnel, who will provide the guidance necessary for you to get the most out of this experience.
Once you’re finished your training, you’ll be joining a unit and provide vital support to Army teams to keep them operating at their peak while on exercise or in barracks.
This experience isn’t just reserved for people that are straight out of school. It’s a unique opportunity where you’ll get the chance to try out a year in Defence, learning how to fulfil a support role that’s unlike any other. You’ll get paid to travel and gain invaluable life and work experience, while making friendships that could last a lifetime.
Once you complete your initial military training, you’ll grow your skills and expertise in one of the following roles:
– Driver where you’ll get behind the wheels of an exciting variety of high performing military vehicles, from a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon to a 110-tonne heavy equipment transporter designed to carry cargo like tanks, or
– Administration Assistant where you’ll learn to be an administration, communication and resource management specialist supporting your commanders and colleagues in barracks and on exercises, or
– Warehouse Coordinator where you’ll take on critical warehouse management and logistics roles, acquiring valuable supply chain skills and distribute state-of-the-art military equipment that most people don’t get to see.
