Your role
Navy’s helicopters play a key role in delivering supplies, personnel, resources and defensive capability to our fleet of ships at sea. Flying a helicopter in a maritime environment and landing on the flight deck of ships is highly skilled and exciting role – you’ll be able to learn from the pilots who do this work every day. The two main aircraft that the Navy uses in operations are the MRH-90 and MH-60R Seahawk. As a Navy Gap Year Helicopter Pilot, you’ll be given the exciting opportunity be part of the team that conducts navy aviation operations. You will experience first-hand how Navy’s helicopter flights are critical in medical evacuation, search and rescue missions, disaster relief and anti-submarine operations.
This action-packed role isn’t just reserved for people that are straight out of school. Salary
During your 12-month role, you’ll receive a salary package starting from $33,126.
In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies, free medical and dental care, service and uniform allowances, as well as a Maritime Allowance (if applicable).

For this role, you must have completed Year 12 level of secondary education (or equivalent) to Officer Entry standard or if applying for ADFA – achieved an ATAR which would qualify you for the relevant degree stream. Applications can be considered if you are yet to complete Year 12 and are tracking towards the required ATAR.
