We’re AEMO.

We don’t just keep Australia’s lights on; we help shape the future of energy.

As the independent operator of Australia’s electricity and gas systems, AEMO sits right at the heart of the energy transition. From managing power flows across the National Electricity Market to planning new infrastructure and enabling more renewables, our work touches every home and business in the country.

And while energy is our world, we’re not just engineers. We’re analysts, tech specialists, problem-solvers, and curious thinkers working together to build a reliable, sustainable energy system for generations to come.

Who could you be at AEMO?

As a Graduate at AEMO, you’re not joining to sit on the sidelines. You’ll be contributing to real problems from your first week, the kind that matter for Australia’s energy future.

Across your two-year program, you’ll rotate through different teams and get hands-on experience with both the technical and strategic sides of what we do. One rotation might teach you about modelling future energy demand; the next could see you supporting market operations or exploring new ways to integrate renewables.

We welcome grads from a range of backgrounds, including:

  • Engineering (electrical, mechatronics, mechanical, chemical)
  • Data science, mathematics, and statistics
  • Information technology and cyber security

Working alongside experienced teams and leaders, you’ll:

  • Build practical technical and analytical skills through real projects
  • Help develop solutions for renewable integration, grid stability and energy markets
  • Contribute to decisions that impact communities across Australia
  • Collaborate across disciplines to shape a cleaner, more sustainable energy future

We’re looking for graduates who:

  • Are curious about how the energy system works and want to shape what comes next
  • Enjoy solving complex problems
  • Can communicate ideas in a clear, engaging way
  • Work well with others and are open to learning
  • Care about innovation, sustainability and creating real impact
  • You must have full working rights for the duration of the program
  • To be eligible to apply for the program you must have graduated within the last 2 years

  • Structured development and learning pathways
