As an Apprentice Cable Jointer your work will involve terminating and jointing a range of Low Voltage and High Voltage cables onto electrical equipment, installing and maintaining cables in underground conduits and trenches, and rectification of faults on the distribution system.
Our Apprenticeships run over a four-year period, combining formal TAFE study and paid field work to enable you to gain the skills, competencies and experience required for an industry recognised trade qualification (Certificate III – ESI Distribution Cable Jointing).
To be eligible to apply, our program pre-requisites are:
- Year 11 pass in Mathematics; or
- VCAL or VCE Vocational Major; or
- Currently completing (or completed) a pre-apprenticeship TAFE training course in Electrotechnology (Cert II)*.
*If you are currently completing a pre-requisite subject, you are eligible to apply, as long as it will be successfully completed by the end of the 2024 academic year.
We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to consider applying, whether you are leaving school, TAFE, have experience working in a different industry, or if perhaps you have decided university is not for you. We look for motivated individuals who want to be part of a team.

- You’ll have the opportunity to work on projects from start to finish, as your development progresses.
- Your development will be maximised via rotations across multiple teams and areas, to allow you to expand your foundation of skills and capability.
