The Role
We now have an exciting opportunity available for an Apprentice Instrumentation Technician to join our Operations Division in Alice Springs, starting in February 2023.
You will be an integral part of the team, learning from our highly skilled tradespeople. This position will not only give you a nationally recognised dual trade qualification (Certificate III in Electrotechnology and a Cert IV in Instrumentation) but will also provide entry to a fantastic career in the energy industry.
Your apprenticeship will consist of 2-4 years of both formal classroom training and onsite work experience. After completion, there may be the opportunity for permanent employment and further development of your career with APA. Your TAFE fees will be covered by APA, and all equipment and PPE will be provided. You just need to bring your enthusiasm, willingness to learn and be part of a collaborative team.
As an APA Apprentice you will:
- Contribute to the safety, efficient delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance in designated Asset including associated plant equipment. This may include but is not limited to: gas storage/processing facilities, pipeline systems, compressor stations, meter stations, pressure reduction facilities, scraper stations and laterals. (Include power assets)
- Under guidance, diagnose, rectify operational problems and contribute to recommendations for improvement.
- Assist with routine testing of Cathodic Protection levels on transmission pipelines in accordance with requirements;
- Provide reliable data and report for analysis, along with contributing to review and update of preventative and corrective maintenance programs and associated documentation.
- Maintain timely and reliable communication with key stakeholders such as IOC and support functions.

- A year 12 school leaver or a mature applicant
