We now have an exciting opportunity available for an Apprentice Electrical Technician to join our Operations & Maintenance team, based at our Cobar site on a permanent full time basis.

You will be an integral part of the team, learning from our highly skilled tradespeople. This position will not only give you a nationally recognised dual trade qualification (Certificate III in Electrotechnology and a Certificate III in Instrumentation) but will also provide entry to a fantastic career in the energy industry.

Your apprenticeship will consist of 3-5 years of both formal classroom training and onsite work experience. Your TAFE fees will be covered by APA, and all equipment and PPE will be provided. You just need to bring your enthusiasm, willingness to learn and be part of a collaborative team.

 As an APA Apprentice you will:

  • Provide routine and preventative maintenance on gas compressors, gas generators, pressure reduction facilities, gas filtration systems, air compressors, water bath heaters and remote power generators
  • Test and calibrate a range of different instruments (such as pressure, flow, chemical sampling, conductivity, PH and ORP)
  • Perform vibration analysis and monitoring equipment (installation, maintenance, calibration and repair)
  • Install, fault find, repair of plant components and mains supply cabling
  • Provide maintenance on valves, fire & gas protection systems, battery bank & solar systems
  • Assist in plant/asset reliability and continuous improvement projects/ initiatives
  • Carry out annual maintenance on gas powered turbines and assisting technicians with scheduled maintenance processes
  • Attend TAFE and complete the required coursework

To be eligible to apply for our Apprenticeship program, you will be:

  • A year 12 school leaver or a mature applicant
  • Able to listen carefully, follow directions and have a willingness to work hard in a team environment
  • Able to work in confined spaces and to climb stairs
  • Licensed to drive a motor vehicle
  • An enthusiastic and dedicated learner, with a passion for developing your skills and committed to building your career as a trade-qualified Electrical Technician
  • Available to commence your career with APA 5 February 2024, and learn all of the above!
