We are the largest distributor of electricity on Australia’s east coast, providing power to 4 million people and playing a critical role in leading and delivering the transition to a low-cost, reliable, and decarbonised economy.

You’ll join our very experienced field teams, who will supervise, support and mentor you throughout your training.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Positions are available to school leavers, people looking to change careers, or anyone already completing an electrical apprenticeship.

AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION:

  • You must be an Australian citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.
  • Be 17 or older at the commencement of the apprenticeship in January 2024.

WE OFFER THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATES:

  • Line-worker: Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Overhead.
  • Cable Jointer: Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Underground.
  • Electrician: Certificate III in Electrotechnology.

PROGRAM INCLUSIONS:

  • A 4-year apprenticeship program that offers a breadth of experience in areas such as overhead works, substations, transmission, underground works and safety.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

1. Apply 

Submit an expression of interest via Ausgrid’s Careers page.

2. Selection test

Once applications have closed and if you have progressed to the next stage of the recruitment process, you will be invited to complete an aptitude test. This test measures your ability relating to the advertised role within the electrical industry as a technical employee. All results will remain confidential to Ausgrid.

3. Interview

You will receive an email informing you of whether you will progress to the next stage, a 45-minute panel interview. The questions will focus on what you know about Ausgrid, as well as areas such as teamwork, working independently, personal work standards, learning, following instructions, problem-solving, communication, health, safety and the environment.

4. Pre-employment assessments

You will be informed of the outcome of your interview via email or phone. If you are successful, you will be subject to Ausgrid pre-employment assessments, including a reference check, criminal history record check, medical check, and qualification checks.
