DRAWING OFFICE CADETS @ APA GROUP – Melbourne

The Opportunity

APA is seeking to hire two full time drafting cadets into the Engineering Design Office (EDO) team based in our Southbank office in Melbourne.

One cadet will be placed in the mechanical team and the other in the electrical & instrumentation team and will report to and work under the direction of the respective discipline team leader.  During the first year, the cadets will be expected to work across each discipline to get a broad range of experience of design office activities.

The cadets will assist the discipline drafting team and the broader EDO team, in the delivery of both project and Stay-In-Business (SIB) work while completing their tertiary education.   The cadets will be accountable for:

• Assisting in the creation of engineering drawings and models using design tools in the EDO
• Assisting in the maintenance of the internal engineering records in Vault and other document storage systems.
• Assisting in the laser scanning of APA facilities to produce 3D models.
• Attending university and completing the required coursework to achieve graduation.
• To develop the skills knowledge and capabilities to become a fully capable drafter, able to independently undertake the full range of tasks required of a member of the drafting team.

Eligibility

Applicants must be eager and willing to undertake an approved Mechanical or Electrical Engineering course (Associate Diploma or Associate Degree at Swinburne). Pre-requisites for the course is completion of Year 12. We will help you through this process, if you have not already enrolled in a course.
