It’s a unique opportunity where you’ll get the chance to try out a year in Defence working alongside fully qualified Electronics Engineers, all without needing any prior qualifications. During your Navy Gap Year engineering experience, you’ll be immersed in the world of complex systems—across radar, sonar, communication, navigation, combat and weapons areas, as well as getting the opportunity to contribute to operations on board. By shadowing experienced Engineers, you’ll learn about their everyday duties, like leading teams of technicians, coordinating and scheduling tasks, and providing technical advice to the Command Team.

Salary:
Be paid to train and upon completion of your initial military and initial employment training, you could earn a package worth $58,877.
In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies and free medical and dental care, service and uniform allowances, as well as a Maritime Allowance (if applicable).

For this role, you must have completed Year 12 level of secondary education (or equivalent) to Officer Entry standard and achieved an ATAR which would qualify you for entry into a degree at UNSW/ADFA that is aligned to a relevant engineering pathway.
