The role

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to kick start their career in the maritime industry by completing a Maritime Traineeship for 12 months at Transdev Sydney Ferries.

Throughout the traineeship, you will participate in a range of on and off the job training and assessments.  The traineeship will involve you attending TAFE to obtain the following qualifications:

  • Certificate I in Maritime Operations (General Purpose Hand Near Coastal)
  • Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal)
  • Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver – Grade 3)

The on-the-job training at Transdev Sydney Ferries will involve engaging in the daily operation, navigation, cleaning, security and maintenance of ferries, wharves and facilities.  You will also be required to work in a rotating roster, including overnight shifts where required.

What you bring 

To be successful in the traineeship you must:

  • Have completed Year 10 or above
  • Demonstrated ability to swim 50 metres or equivalent – Click HERE for more information
  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Be enthusiastic and eager to learn on the job
  • Work well within a team environment
