We are looking for our next OO3 Ranger to join our dynamic team located at Chillagoe
This role’s focus area is to provide operational support to the Chillagoe team in managing the highly visited Chillagoe-Mungana Caves National Park along with some very isolated and remote parks including Staaten River National Park, Palmer River Goldfields Resources Reserve and Errk Oykangand National Park (CYPAL).
This allows for a diverse array of opportunities unique to the Chillagoe work center including but not limited to:
• Rangers are regularly rostered to take groups on guided cave tours through the 3 show caves set up for this purpose. This a rotating roster among all ranger staff and includes regular weekend work.
• Working in some of the most remote parks in North Queensland requiring remote camping for days at a time.
• Working with a variety of Traditional Owner groups.
• Infrastructure maintenance including within limestone cave systems.
• Rangers will be required to assist Customer Service Officers in the Chillagoe Hub, providing tourist information to visitors, taking cave tour bookings and some cash handling.
• Chillagoe work area can be a challenging environment with hot and humid days for 8 months of the year, limited access during the tropical wet seasons and limited services available in the local area.
