ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for motivated people to join our team as a Sales Cadet. Ideally the successful applicants will have the vision to progress within the team out on the road – selling the Mainfreight brand. To begin, you will be provided “hands-on training within the operations” to build a foundation of knowledge of who we are and what we do as a business. You will go on an induction to gain a deeper understanding of Mainfreight, how our culture has made us successful, and the role you will play to work towards our 100-year vision.

Once you have developed this foundation, you will have ongoing training and development to learn the world of sales from our experienced team who will coach and mentor you along the way. This is an entry-level role and ideal for someone that wants a long-term career in a global growing company. Simply, this cadetship will involve:

  • 12 – 24 months hands-on, structured, and supported training
  • Learning our functions and systems, including operations, administration, and customer service
  • Exposure to the wider business to understand our offerings. This includes Warehousing, Transport, Air & Ocean, Owens and Chemcouriers
  • Attendance at internal and external sales skills training sessions
  • Involvement in sales meetings and conferences
  • Weekly debrief with the Sales Manager, including education, guidance, and support

WHAT IS SALES AT MAINFREIGHT?

When you “graduate”, you will take on a geographic sales territory or a portfolio of customers to manage and grow by identifying new business opportunities, understanding those prospective customers’ needs and developing/presenting Mainfreight solutions that help our customers grow and prosper. You will be given branch and national support to help maintain and develop your territory and customer portfolio.
