Are you ready to take on an exciting challenge in the heart of Sydney’s CBD? Uniting NSW.ACT is seeking a talented and experienced Security Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Pitt Street office. This 6-month contract role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Role Overview

As a Security Operations Engineer, you will play a vital role at Uniting by monitoring, analysing, and responding to security incidents while also implementing preventive measures to safeguard our systems. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of cybersecurity, requiring a deep understanding of security principles and experience with relevant tools and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

As the Security Operations Engineer, your specific duties will involve:

  • Monitoring security alerts and events to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Analysing security incidents to determine root causes and develop effective response strategies.
  • Implementing and managing security tools and technologies for threat detection and prevention.
  • Collaborate with the internal ops and 3rd party SOC to manage and respond to Endpoint alerts and incidents.
  • Following our mature methodology to lift the Uniting NIST assessment score.
  • Providing guidance and support to other IT teams on security-related matters.
  • Participating in incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
  • Further progress improvements in Cryptography across systems and services.
  • Work with Project Team to assist migration to new SSE.
  • Staying updated with cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5 or more years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with O365, MS Defender Suite, MS Sentential SIEM, MS Azure.
  • Experience working with repeatable and consistent services for security incidents and requests.
  • Used ServiceNow or similar ticketing tools.
  • Experience responding to threat intelligence and advisories.
  • Engaged in red, blue, and purple team exercises and initiatives, along with familiarity with associated frameworks.

Even better

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus.
  • Experience with Secure Service Edge(SSE) products and services.
