At Uniting, we believe in taking real steps to make the world a better place. We work to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice.

Role Overview:

At Uniting, we refer to our ‘Support Workers’ as ‘Home Care Workers’. In this position, you’ll offer care and companionship to seniors in their residences in the Wollongong area, fostering their independence and enhancing their quality of life. Travel to clients’ homes and communities is essential, using your own vehicle.

Responsibilities in this role may involve:

  • Helping around the home – Help with housekeeping and meal preparation.
  • Aiding with personal hygiene – Assisting with bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Supporting wellness through transportation – driving to appointments and accompanying clients on shopping outings or to Uniting’s Healthy Living for Seniors programs.

What we’re looking for?

  • You’ll have previous experience in aged or community care, or a passion to begin your career in aged care.
  • You’ll be empathetic and resourceful.
  • You’ll also be flexible and prepared to help meet the changing needs and schedules of our home care clients.
  • You’ll need a provisional or full Australian driving licence and ongoing access to a reliable vehicle that’s comprehensively insured (not just CTP).
  • Ideally, you’ll have a Certificate III/IV in Aged Care or Individual Support or an equivalent qualification. If you’re not currently qualified and would like to be, then we can help you get there.

Please know that employment with Uniting requires:

  • A National Police Check
  • Reference checks
  • Other pre-employment screenings

We’ll create a better future for you!

Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we support them to grow and develop to be their best through our strong commitment to learning, flexibility, great benefits and a positive culture of teamwork and cooperation. Together, we can build a better future for the people and communities we serve, and for you.

Further to this we offer:

  • Hands on training, development and mentoring in a leading provider.
  • Join an organisation that has a positive impact on our clients and the community.
  • Not for profit salary packaging entitlements
  • Paid travel time and reimbursement of kilometres
