About the role

In this four-year program, you will work under the supervision of highly skilled and supportive tradespersons to complete a Certificate III ESI Power Systems and become a fully-qualified Transmission Linesperson.

Along the way, you will also complete the below qualifications and licences:

  • First Aid certificate + Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate
  • High risk work licences including Elevated Work Platform, Rigging and Dogging, and Forklift
  • Heavy Rigid truck Licence
  • Vehicle Loading Crane (VLC)

As you learn from industry experts, you will construct, maintain and repair overhead Transmission Lines, working at heights on high voltage transmission towers, and delivering critical services to five million Queensland customers.

This role will require travel throughout Queensland and work on a 9-Day roster.

About you

You are passionate about exploring how electricity works, solving complex problems, safety and taking the initiative to get things done. You’re hands-on and enjoy working away in remote locations and outdoors.

You love working at heights, with the ability to work on towers and platforms up to 80 metres high. If you have a fear of heights, this apprenticeship is not for you.

You’ll also need the following:

  • A current Queensland driver’s licence (manual required or be willing to obtain)
  • Your own means of transport
  • Completed year 12 (or in the process of doing so) – unless you are a mature aged candidate
  • A strong work ethic
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
