A Finger-Licking Great Career? KFC Has You Covered!

We get it: working in a fast-food restaurant might not be at the top of your list regarding your future career.

We know many young people get stuck into this industry to help gain experience before they move on to their ‘real jobs’.

But this thinking might lead you to miss out on incredible opportunities!

Keep reading to discover why KFC can offer you so much more than a casual starter job.

KFC: A Great Place to Start

According to Labour Market Insights, there’s excellent growth anticipated in this sector! Between now and 2026, it’s predicted there will be an 18% increase in job opportunities – that’s a little over 10,000 new roles across Australia!

The popularity of this industry contributes towards its ongoing growth and opportunities – so if it’s sustainability you’re after in your career, look no further.

It’s also one of the biggest industries that don’t require you to have any prior experience or academic qualifications.

Organisations like KFC are committed to your growth, and you’ll find plenty of opportunities to learn, grow and gain relevant qualifications as you develop your career in the business.

More Than One Way to Reach Your Full Potential

KFC welcomes anyone interested in working with them; whether you’re fresh out of high school or fresh out of university, there’s a pathway for you!

Let’s take a look at two of them:

School-based Traineeships

KFC offers Nationally Accredited Training with such qualifications, including Certificate II Retail Services, Certificate III Retail and Certificate III Hospitality.

Depending on your location, different options are available to you.

How do school-based traineeships work?

School-based traineeships involve studying at high school, training and working.  All of these things will become part of your school timetable. You will continue to go to school to earn your Certificate of Education.

The qualification or competencies you complete during your school-based traineeship can be recorded on your Certificate of Education and will be recognised wherever you go in Australia.

Graduate Programs

For graduates looking to elevate their careers, KFC offers their Graduate Leadership Program. The GLP provides customised learning opportunities to develop graduates into future Operations leaders within the business.

Selected graduates complete up to four rotations lasting approximately 12 months each. These may be in any critical business areas, such as:

  • People & Culture
  • Supply Chain
  • Information Technology
  • Marketing
  • Operations
  • Development

Each rotation will depend on which department can provide you with the best learning opportunities that stretch your skill set. You’ll also have access to customised leadership skills training and coaching through a partnership with Integrated Development Australia.

The program is open to Restaurant Managers with a complete or near-complete degree (degree completed within 12 months of part-time study) and demonstrated experience as a KFC Restaurant General Manager (preferably 12 months experience).

KFC: A Career for Everyone

KFC is an equal opportunity employer – it’s a level playing field for all.

Their work environment is fully inclusive, and they strive for a workplace where diversity of thought and perspective is welcomed, sought out and developed.

No matter who you are or where you’re from, people from all walks of life are encouraged to apply to join the KFC family!
