Ever wondered what a career in agriculture could look like?
It’s beyond working on farms. Agriculture today spans science, business, logistics, technology, and corporate roles that support farmers and food production right across Australia.
At Nutrien Ag Solutions Australia, we offer a range of opportunities for high school students, graduates, and early-career professionals to get involved, build practical skills, and start shaping their futures.
Your first job isn’t just about earning money—it’s about discovering what you enjoy, building your confidence, and picking up skills that will help you wherever your career takes you. That’s why we offer different pathways for people starting out in the industry.
Graduate and Development Programs
If you’re looking to build a long-term career in agriculture, we offer several development pathways designed to help you grow within the industry.
The Livestock Career Development Program focuses on practical skills and industry knowledge. You don’t need a formal degree to join. What matters most is your experience in agriculture, your ability to stay focused when things get busy, and your willingness to learn.
Through the program, you’ll receive hands-on training, learn directly on the job, and work alongside experienced professionals who are there to guide and support you as you develop your skills.
We also offer a two-year Graduate Program for those ready to take the next step after their studies. This program blends hands-on experience with structured learning and mentorship from leaders across our business.
Graduates can focus on areas such as Agronomy, Agribusiness, or Corporate roles, giving them the chance to work on real projects while learning how a national agricultural business operates.
To join the Graduate Program, you’ll need to have completed a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science or a related field for the Agronomy stream, or a Bachelor’s degree in areas such as Agribusiness, Finance, Human Resources, Business Management, Technology, Communications, or another related business discipline before the program begins.
Opportunities for High School Students
You don’t have to wait until university to start gaining experience in the industry.
Many of our branches offer opportunities for high school students who are curious about agriculture and want to see what working in the industry is really like.
These early experiences can help you build workplace confidence, develop practical skills, and gain a better understanding of how agricultural businesses operate.
In fact, many people across Nutrien started their careers while still in school. Some began through school-based traineeships, while others joined their local branch in casual roles while studying.
Starting early gives you valuable hands-on experience and helps you explore the many career pathways open within agriculture.
Entry-Level Roles You Could Try
There are a number of casual and entry-level roles across our branches that can help you get started and build experience.
