Meet Laura, Digital Operations Coordinator at Sportsgirl, working from The Sussan Group’s head office in Melbourne. Long before joining the team, Laura was already one of Sportsgirl’s most passionate fans.
“I’d been working in another industry and decided to get back into retail,” she recalls. “I thought, what better way than to apply for a role at a company I was already a big customer of?”
But it wasn’t just the clothes that drew her in—it was everything Sportsgirl stands for.

Laura is the engine behind Sportsgirl’s vibrant online presence, making sure everything runs seamlessly behind the scenes.
She collaborates across teams, supporting digital campaigns and making sure every new product shines online. It’s a role full of variety and teamwork.
One of Laura’s favourite perks? She’s always among the first to see new collections and fashion trends as they drop.
“I love seeing all the new products coming through,” she says. “You’re always across what’s happening in fashion.”
Of course, working in digital means nothing stays the same for long.
“In digital, things are constantly changing,” Laura explains. “There are always new programs, new developments, and new things to learn.”
For Laura, that fast pace is part of what keeps the job fun.
But it’s not just the work that makes Laura stay—it’s the people.
“Everyone is lovely and amazing to work with,” she says. “Coming into work each day is honestly a joy.”
When your photo ends up in store windows nationwide
There’s one experience Laura will never forget.
She was invited to step in front of the camera and model for two of Sportsgirl’s campaigns.
“We went on a shoot where I got to try on lots of different outfits and take photos for the store windows and website,” she says.
Seeing the finished campaign was a true pinch-me moment.
“It was amazing to see my photo in store windows around the country,” she says. “It made me feel really valued.”
For Laura, who started out as a die-hard fan, being part of that campaign was a proud, full-circle moment.
