Embrace Rural Life With Agriculture Careers

Do you feel your best when you’re able to reconnect with nature? Are your weekends spent hiking, exploring or looking for native animals? Does city life make you feel a little overwhelmed? If you answered yes to any of the above, you might be better suited to a rural job than you think!

When most of us think of workplaces, our minds automatically conjure images of office buildings and cubicles. However, that doesn’t have to be the case. That’s why, in partnership with our friends at Elders, we’re illuminating exciting agriculture careers and pathways that will have you getting out and about in nature, every single day!

Discover the Benefits of Rural Life in Australia

Living in Rural Australia has a lot to offer; between the close-knit communities, career opportunities and unique experiences to be had, it’s a truly rewarding lifestyle!

The Australian Identity is interwoven with Bush Spirit, which paints a picture of people being connected to one another through endurance of hard times, celebrations of community and connection to the land. In the words of one of Elders’ Livestock Trainees:

“You don’t live for the job, you live for the lifestyle, the bush spirit and the mateship”.

For many, one of the most rewarding parts of rural life is the slower and more relaxed pace, which, for city slickers, can be pretty hard to come by!  With fewer distractions, rural life offers a much-needed retreat from the hustle and bustle and allows people to spend time doing what they truly enjoy and getting involved in their community, too! Often in rural areas, even though there are less people, the community feel is stronger leading to more meaningful interactions and deeper connections with those around them.

The team at Elders are lucky enough to experience how rewarding rural Australian life can be firsthand! With their remote bases and rural employees all across the country, the bush spirit and mateship has truly become a part of the Elders culture!

Embrace Rural Living With Remote Jobs in Australia

While this kind of lifestyle appeals to many, misconceptions about a ‘lack of rural jobs and opportunities’ can be a little off-putting. However, we’re about to show you why this isn’t true at all; in fact, there are lots of incredible rural jobs that are unique and greatly rewarding as well! After all, people in rural areas still need doctors, tradespeople, shop attendants, bankers and more. That’s why you can totally live rurally and follow your dream career pathway at the same time.

Need a little career inspiration to get you started? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

A popular option for those living in rural Australia are agriculture careers, and for good reason, too! Careers in agriculture offer an abundance of different pathways to choose from (some of which we bet you’ve never heard of), and the ability to help feed communities all across Australia. If you ask us, work doesn’t get much more rewarding than that!

What Makes Australian Agriculture Careers so Rewarding?

To highlight all the aspects of Elders’ agriculture careers that make them so rewarding, we chatted to a few members of Elder’s Early Careers cohort, who have been spending time living in different rural areas across Australia.

When we asked them what it was about living and working in rural jobs in Australia that they enjoyed the most, one Graduate Agronomist said it was “The sense of community you feel when you’re there,” and went on to describe how, “it’s rewarding to see how people will rally behind each other, like when the local footy team is playing, everyone has got flags up in their windows for support! Another Graduate talked about how scenic and peaceful it is in rural Australia and their exciting experiences spotting wild emus and wedge tail eagles.

To sum up the rural experience, we think this Graduate Agronomist’s response said it all; “It’s not one thing, it’s a feeling.”
