Claims & Assessing (C&A)
Claims and Assessing is the engine that drives us as a business. This is where a lot of our Claims Management and Customer Service teams sit. As our largest department, we have teams focusing on:
managing new and existing insurance claims (either Home or Motor Claims)
managing complex settlements and recoveries as well as everything that supports this (including trainers, workforce planning, BAs, Team Leaders, High Care Consultants, etc).
We have a wide range of roles to suit all levels of experience within customer service.
Claims and Assessing also consists of our assessing team (both on road and desktop teams) who would evaluate the damage to our customers home or vehicles. If you have a passion for construction, or are wanting to study any relevant trade qualification (building, carpenter, panel beater) – we would love to hear from you.
Sales & Service
Sales & Service look after the acquisition and servicing of customers for Auto & General – which powers Car and Home & Contents Insurance for brands like Budget Direct, ING, Qantas and Coles. With sites across North Lakes and Kawana on the Sunshine Coast, we drive every day to deal a great experience for our customers.

We have invested significantly in our Technology Teams over the years and have specific teams supporting the business in a variety of ways:
Delivery
IT Delivery comprises the Agile Delivery Team to drive delivery excellence in technology delivery across A&G and the Business Analysis Team to ensure high quality business analysis across the organisation.
Development
Creating innovative solutions, maintaining and improving existing systems, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products.
Technical Enterprise Services
Technical Enterprise Services (TES) provide mixed services and support across areas of architecture, RPA/Onbase, Workflow and iBMI performance and optimisation.
Infrastructure
The technical infrastructure team is responsible for maintaining a stable, secure, and efficient IT environment that supports the business’s day-to-day operations and strategic goals. Their work enables other departments to function smoothly and ensures that technology resources are effectively utilized to drive business success.

In our A&G and ME promise, we value opportunities for our team members to grow and develop. That’s why we started our Technology Academy for team members to learn all the ins and outs of full stack development with the support of a brilliant cast of mentors.
What is the Technology Academy?
The annual program runs full-time for 12 months, based in Toowong. Each week, team members undertake a prescribed set of learning courses and attend classroom sessions with mentors from the A&G Technology team. Participants also spend time working on their projects and activities to cement their learning.
Participants learn relevant soft skills and project management skills required to be a great developer, including attending and running Agile ceremonies and team meetings.
At the end of the 12 month program, team members have the opportunity to accept a permanent role in the Technology team.
What is our Test Academy?
The Test Academy is an immersive learning experience with the goal to provide participants with:
the core skills & understanding for applying Software Testing practices @ A&G
a detailed overview of our Delivery Lifecycle and relevance to its core products and applications
on-the-job hands on experience working alongside established Testers, Delivery Teams and Stakeholders
the opportunity to attain industry certification in the Foundations of Software Testing.

From Graduate to General Manager – Meet Will Harrison
To give you a glimpse of what’s possible at A&G, we spoke to Will Harrison, General Manager, Business Solutions Development and a proud graduate of our Technology Academy.
Here’s his inspiring journey at A&G and why he loves working in Technology.
Will, can you tell us about your A&G Career Journey?
I’ve been with A&G for 16 years, starting in 2008 as a Customer Service Consultant in our contact centre. My interest in technology led me to apply for the first intake of Tech Academy trainees. The academy provided a direct entry into a tech career, a path usually reserved for university graduates. The experience fueled my passion for technology and set me on an exciting career path.
After graduating, my focus turned to people leadership. I transitioned to a Lead Developer, Pricing and Underwriting role, then to Development Manager, Pricing Underwriting and Finance, and eventually to Head of Development, Business Optimisation. In this role, I focused on aligning our business strategy with our technology roadmap and re-establishing the Tech Academy in a new and expanded format to create development pathways into full stack software development.
Today, as General Manager, Business Solutions Development, I head up all our Business Solutions Development and work alongside our Business Enablement and Delivery functions to deliver our strategic initiatives requiring system or software development. I’m grateful for the career growth opportunities at A&G and encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone and try something new.
What do you love about working in Tech?
Two things fuel my passion: creativity and diversity. Technology challenges me to find innovative solutions to business challenges. The diversity within the industry brings together different perspectives, fostering creativity.
What advice would you give to someone considering applying for the Tech Academy?
Be curious. Technology is ever-evolving and requires continuous learning and adaptability. Successful tech professionals are always curious and comfortable with not knowing an answer but driven to find it. The Tech Academy is an amazing opportunity to enter the world of technology.
What is the best career advice you have ever received?
Recognise that everyone, regardless of their role, has something to learn. Strive to always be better, not perfect.
