In short Datacom’s team of experts work across a lot of areas of Tech like Cloud, Cyber, Software Development, Technical Operations, Service Desk, Harware, AI and Automation (to name a few!) We also have a lot of teams and experts that aren’t techy but love working in the Tech industry. Like business consultants, data analysts, sales reps, and business operations.

What does that mean for someone brand new to the world or Tech? we can help you explore different areas of specialisation within the Tech Industry, to find your unique path. The first years of your career should be about curiosity, uncovering new strengths and interests. It’s an exciting time and we’ll be with you along the way mentoring and providing the opportunities for you to thrive.

We have a brand new carefully curated program specially design for students coming out of high school. Our Apprenticeship Program offers a kick start to your career in Tech and the start to your journey. You’ll have a series of ‘placement rotations’ all designed to provide a well-rounded foundation of skills.

What sort of student are we looking for?

You don’t have to be a straight A student. At Datacom we look for attitude, enthusiasm, and curiosity. Someone not afraid to put in the hard yards, to learn and grow and take on challenges.

We’re capturing expressions of interest from high school students who might be interested in an alternative pathway after school – straight into the professional workforce!

At Datacom we understand that choosing a career or study area can be challenging. There is a world of possibilities and not everyone’s journey will look the same. That’s why we’ve created 4 Early Careers pathways all designed to help set you up for success and kick start a meaningful career

Work Experience: Job Shadow Datacom’s experts to see first-hand what it’s like working in different areas of Tech. We also have a brand new Virtual Work Experience Simulation which is free, accessible learning that can be completed in your own time at home!

Traineeship: This brand-new programme is perfect for those that are looking for an alternative to university. You’ll have on the job learning and support while building foundation skills. As you discover your strengths, we’ll support you to choose specialization that interests you, like cybersecurity! You’ll also be invited to apply for the Career Shapers Scholarship. An opportunity for Datacom funded higher education.

Internship: For those in the process of completing a university, Degree. An internship at Datacom offers practical experience in relation to your area of study.

Graduate: Either a graduate of university or High Education. Our Graduates enroll in Datacom’s Talent Elevator. A 12 month programme of support to ensure our cohort feel connected, have the opportunity to develop their skills and build long term, successful careers at Datacom.

Trainees

Datacom’s Traineeship Programme offers an exciting new career pathway for eager individuals looking to build a career in the Technology Industry!

No formal qualification is required, and we highly encourage people from all backgrounds to apply. We’re looking for bright stars that can bring diversity of background, thought and skill.

About the Programme

This paid, full time traineeship combines practical on the job training with on-going career development and mentoring.

Your Traineeship journey will begin in an area like the Service Desk. Which offers the perfect training ground to build your foundational skills like – customer service, service management, communication, problem solving, adaptability and growth mindset.

As your expertise grows we’ll help you better understand your strengths and refine your goals. Helping to set you up for success as you navigate the next phase of the programme – specialisation!

Specialisation is where you can start to direct your skill development with your career aspirations. This might mean Cyber, Networks, Project Management, Software Development….the options are endless!

The Benefits

All Trainees will have access to a huge suite of online learning resources as well as being invited to apply for the Datacom Career Shapers Scholarship! 

The Datacom Scholarship  is an opportunity to further your study. Datacom will sponsor a TAFE/polytechnic certification in a growth area of Tech (for example Networks, Cyber, Development)

Virtual Work Experience

Introducing Datacom’s Virtual Work Experience Platform! 

High school students from around Australia can sign up for Datacom’s newly launched virtual work experience platform to develop practical skills in four key tech pathways – cloud, automation, cyber and software development.
The virtual work experience platform is free and can be completed in your own pace. You’ll also receive a certificate of completion for each Pathway completed (a great way to build out your CV!)

Join Datacom Connect at one of our customer contact centre hubs.

Datacom Connect is the frontline for Australia’s federal government, providing essential services to people across Australia. The Datacom Connect team also work with significant commercial customers to deliver customer experience services at scale.

Datacom Connect operates multiple customer contact centre hubs across Australia and New Zealand. We’ve also recently accelerated a ‘work from anywhere’ service delivery solution in response to the global pandemic so our contact centre agents can work from home for some of our customers.
