Sustainable initiatives

We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint, with a dedicated Green Team, free Myki cards for work-related travel and discounted Myki cards through our Commuter Club. We also offer secure bike parking, on-site showers, electric bikes for travelling to external meetings or other sites and we also have composting bins and our own fruit and veggie garden. We run regular meetings to gain input from staff across the organisation on sustainable ideas, have lunch and learn sessions, run waste-free events, and our buildings now have solar panels installed.   

Work/life balance and support

It’s important to maintain a balance at work, and we encourage this with a monthly accrued day off for our full-time roles, flexible working arrangements, working from home and job share arrangements where operationally viable.

Health and wellbeing

We understand life can be challenging sometimes which is why we have an award-nominated wellbeing program which offers lunchtime Pilates sessions, annual fitness programs, heavily discounted aquatic and gym memberships, healthy mind and wellbeing events, healthy picnics, mediation sessions and programs. Our employees’ health, both physical and mental is our top priority and as part of our wellbeing program, we offer a free employee assistance/counselling program and peer support. We offer discounted aquatic and gym memberships, a corporate health insurance plan, opportunities to join our active social club.

These committees give young people the opportunity to: learn about the performing arts industry and local government; receive mentoring from musicians, event managers and artists; gain experience and skills in event planning and management; add their committee experience to their resume; meet new people; receive free training and free entry to all events; plan fun and awesome events for you and your friends

  • Eligibility Criteria: Aged 14-25 years old
  • Live, work, study or recreate in the City of Stonnington (Armadale, Glen Iris, Malvern, Kooyong, Malvern, Malvern East, Prahran, South Yarra, Toorak or Windsor)

Body Basics

Body Basics is a recreational and fitness program that provides opportunities for young people aged 12 to 21. Participants experience a range of fitness and recreational activities in a safe and fun environment. Art Club

Art Club in an online art program which is facilitated by artist Lucy Hotchin. This is a space for young people to come together and make time to work on their own art projects while connecting with others & learning about different art forms.

 Job Club

Stonnington Youth Services are providing free employment support for young people aged 14 to 25 via an employment support group program and one-to-one support.

Job Club starts on Thursday 19 August and will run weekly in person or online pending restrictions.

Traffic Signal Box (TSB) Street Art Project

Do you love art?

Young people aged 12-25 years old are invited to receive individual mentoring from a prominent local street artist to design, develop and execute their own individual piece on a traffic signal box in the City of Stonnington.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the artistic process and learn about the formal training and career opportunities relevant to this skill set.

Youth Art Comp

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is a global initiative galvanising individuals, communities and organisations to address gender inequalities and eradicate violence against women and girls around the world. As part of the campaign, Stonnington Middle Years and Youth Services is hosting an art competition and exhibition for all young people aged 12-25. There will be some fabulous prizes and the opportunity to exhibit your work to 100s of people.

How to take part:
1. Create a work of art that celebrates women and girls or demonstrates what you believe ‘respect is’
2. Send a picture of your work to us via our socials or youth@stonnington.vic.gov.au by 19th November 2021

If your work is chosen it will be exhibited in an Instagram exhibition on 3rd December and winners will be announced 10th December.
