At Peter Mac, you can choose from eligible super funds. We pay in line with the Australian Taxation Office ruling, and, for some staff, this can be varied according to your role in the organisation and relevant university affiliations.
RECREATION LEAVE LOADING
You will receive 17.5 per cent loading on any accrued recreation leave.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR SERVICE
We recognise continuous service within Victorian public hospitals for the purpose of determining industry start dates and calculating long service leave and personal leave entitlements in accordance with the relevant agreement.
If you have previously been employed by an interstate health service, please enquire about your recognition of service.
SALARY PACKAGING
Salary packaging enables employees to receive more of their income tax-free. Permanent staff can pay a salary package up to $9,095 per annum, which can result in an income tax saving of around $2,700 per year (more than $100 per pay) for most employees. In addition, staff can also package meals and entertainment expenses (capped at $2,500 per year).
WORK/LIFE BALANCE
Our leave provisions can also assist with achieving a rewarding work/life balance:
- Accrued days off (ADO) – most full-time positions include a monthly day off.
- Annual leave – you are provided with an extended period of rest and recreation each year, with most positions attracting a four to five-week annual leave entitlement.
- Purchased leave (48/52) is available for certain positions. By reducing your pay, you can receive up to four weeks of additional annual leave.
- Paid parental leave is available after 12 months of continuous service.
- Cumulative personal (sick) and carers leave is payable for personal illness or when caring for immediate family or household members.
PARENTAL SUPPORT
We know that balancing family and work responsibilities can be a challenge. To help make this a little easier, Peter Mac hosts quarterly lunches for prospective parents, staff on parental leave and staff who have returned from parental leave in the last six months.
Our Parkville facilities include clean and private parents’ rooms, providing a special place where breast milk can be expressed and stored and babies can be fed and changed.
We also offer some paid parental leave for eligible staff who have completed at least 12 months of service before the birth/adoption date of their child, in addition to the Government Paid Parental Leave Scheme.
SAFETY AND WELLBEING
Life’s better in a safe workplace, and Peter Mac is committed to providing high levels of protection and support to employees, volunteers, contractors and members of the public while working with us. Caring for people is what we do, and that starts with the safety and wellbeing of our staff.
