Who are you and what’s your role with CMV Group?
“I’m Caitlin! I work for the CMV Group at South Central Truck and Bus and I am a senior service advisor. At the moment, my role involves talking to customers one-on-one and dealing with any complaints that they may have in relation to trucks or busses; this could relate to anything from minor issues to break downs, so you have to be ready for anything!”
How did you get started in the industry?
“Prior to this job, I worked in Melbourne as a dental nurse for a short period of time, but, ultimately, I discovered that it just wasn’t the job for me. From there, I switched paths and tried working in hardship debt collection; that’s when I realised that I really liked the feeling of helping people out.
When I came back to Adelaide from Melbourne, after I had my little boy, I applied for a job with the CMV Group as a receptionist. However, during my interview, the hiring managers saw something in me and ended up putting me forward for a service advisor role instead. Since then, I’ve been working in the service industry!”
What are your favourite parts about working with CMV Group?
“I truly love that CMV Group is so family orientated. Plus, they always go above and beyond to make sure that you’re happy with your job. If you aren’t, they even give you the option to step into other roles that might suit you better.
In terms of my role, I like that I can go above and beyond for people and build those super-close customer relationships that you wouldn’t tend to have when you’re just talking to people on the phone. When you’re in a senior service advisor role, you get to build strong and lasting relationships with your customers, and offer them support when they need it most.”
What’s something about the service industry that would surprise most people?
“I doubt that many people realise how fast-paced it is; It’s never the same thing every single day. In fact, no day or customer is ever really the same. Because of how dynamic the industry is, it’s great for people who want to be kept on their toes; if you like challenges, this is definitely the job for you!”
Can you share some of your career highlights?
“My most memorable career highlight is being awarded Employee of the Year within two years of being with the company. Another highlight was being invited to do the Future Leaders program. It’s not common for someone to reach these milestones so quickly, so I’m very proud of both of these!”
What advice would you give to your high-school self?
“You don’t have to have everything figured out! As someone who’s career journey has taken her to different states and into different industries, I know the feeling of not being sure about what I wanted to do. In fact, I didn’t really have anything figured out until I moved back to Adelaide! It took time, and a little bit of trial and error, but I got there in the end. Everyone’s journey is different, so don’t rush it!”
