ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for motivated people to join our team in the operations. Ideally the successful applicants will have the vision to progress within the team by understanding our operations which can lead to support-based roles or leadership opportunities. The operations are the most important part of what we do so the more you learn, the more you can carve out your career within the business.

To begin, you will be provided “hands-on training within the operations” to build a foundation of knowledge of who we are and what we do as a business. You will go on an induction to gain a deeper understanding of Mainfreight, how our culture has made us successful, and the role you will play to work towards our 100-year vision. This is an entry-level role and ideal for someone that wants a long-term career in a global growing company. Simply, this role involves:

  • Learning our operational processes depending on the division you’re placed in
  • Learn our functions and systems including but not limited to our warehouse management system, transport tracking system, and global cargo system (Cargowise)
  • Work within a team to complete daily tasks
  • Use of forklifts and RF devices to process freight
  • Ongoing training and development of a variety of skills for you to succeed

WHAT ARE OPERTAIONS AT MAINFREIGHT?

In any of our divisions, the operations are the lifeblood of what we do as a business. No day is the same and you will learn the logistics and movement of freight within our supply chain by seeing and touching the freight at a domestic and global level. Having a firm understanding of this can lead you to a variety of roles ranging from customer service, administration, fleet management, IT and cybersecurity, accounting, business/customer development, or even leadership and managerial positions. The possibilities are endless.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Ideally, we are looking for the requirements below however we understand candidates will not have all the skills – which is okay. We still want to hear from you! If your coachable and have a willingness to learn, that’s all we ask for!

  • Good communication skills
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Be a team player with a genuine ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Not afraid to make decisions on their own and take risks
  • Ability to have a quality focused approach to all tasks
  • An eye for detail and customer focused attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment within tight deadlines
  • Experience using a forklift. Forklift license preferred but not essential (we can teach you to attain your forklift license)
