SO Much More Than Pest Control: Discover How Rentokil Champions Environmental Sustainability

When you think of Rentokil, it’s natural you’ll automatically think of pest control or hygiene. After all, it’s what these leaders in the field are well known for!

But you might be interested to learn about one of Rentokil Initial’s other divisions – Ambius – that goes beyond traditional pest control.

Keep reading to discover why there’s so much more to this broad company than you might realise, and explore some of the incredible initiatives they’re delivering to support environmental sustainability.

Who is Ambius?

A division of Rentokil Initial, Ambius goes beyond traditional pest control, focusing on creating healthier and more sustainable environments.

They provide services and solutions for interior landscaping, scenting, and living green walls. Ambius actively engages in environmental conservation initiatives, such as supporting Rainforest Rescue and collaborating with research institutions to study air pollution and the benefits of indoor plants.

Supporting Rainforest Rescue: The Daintree

Ambius understands the critical importance of preserving our planet’s precious rainforests, which serve as the lungs of our Earth.

As part of their commitment to environmental conservation, they have partnered with Rainforest Rescue, a non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting and restoring the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland, Australia. This collaboration aims to safeguard the region’s unique biodiversity and ecological balance.

The Daintree is arguably the largest, most biodiverse environment on the planet. A landscape with striking diversity, continually evolving and growing, living and breathing for 180 million years, compared to Amazon at 55 million years.

It covers an area of approximately 12,000 square kilometres and stretches from Townsville to Cooktown. 75% of The Daintree is tropical rainforest, equivalent to about the size of Sydney!

Through their partnership, Ambius provides financial support to Rainforest Rescue’s reforestation efforts and helps raise awareness about the urgent need to protect this natural treasure.

Ambius demonstrates their commitment to preserving our planet’s natural heritage for future generations by actively restoring the Daintree Rainforest.

Ambius & UTS Plants Study on Air Pollution

Air pollution is a pressing global issue affecting the health and well-being of humans and the environment. Ambius recognises the significance of this challenge and has collaborated with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Plants research group to conduct a pioneering study on the role of indoor plants in combating air pollution.

The joint research project focuses on investigating the ability of certain plant species to purify indoor air by removing harmful pollutants.

By partnering with UTS Plants, Ambius aims to deepen our understanding of how indoor plants can improve air quality in homes, offices, and public spaces.

This research has the potential to revolutionise how we approach indoor air quality management and promote green solutions for a healthier and more sustainable future.

Ambius’ Tree Planting Initiative

Ambius is not only committed to supporting Rainforest Rescue and conducting ground-breaking research but also actively contributes to tree planting initiatives. For the past three years, Ambius has participated in the largest community tree planting event held at the Nightwings rainforest centre. This year, 140 people attended, planting an impressive 3,500 trees, including 90 different species.

With their support, Ambius has helped protect 25,600 square meters of the Daintree Rainforest and rescued eight properties, making a significant impact on preserving our planet’s natural heritage.

To date, they have funded a total of 4,800 seedlings, including an additional 1,200 seedlings in 2023.

Ambius’ dedication to creating healthier and more sustainable environments extends to their active involvement in tree planting, showcasing their commitment to environmental conservation.
