Meet Kylie

Local Service Manager

1. What initially attracted you to Rentokil Initial and the role you’re a part of?

I started my Ambius Journey in 2020 after working for Initial (Hygiene) as a service technician for nine years.

I decided it was time for a change and moved to Ambius. I started as a service technician and moved to the team leader role. I am currently the Local Service Manager (LSM).

I was always interested in plants, but I never thought I would end up working with plants daily!

2. Describe a typical day in your role. What tasks and responsibilities do you handle, and how do they contribute to the overall objectives of the organisation?

My typical day can change at the drop of a hat. I have 12 team members who report to me, so there is never a dull moment.

A few of my responsibilities include ensuring my team is running correctly and that they have the correct tools to do their job and do it well. I am also responsible for making sure clients are looked after servicing-wise and their needs are met.

3. How has your role helped you grow both personally and professionally? Are there any specific skills or knowledge you’ve acquired during your journey?

In my new role, I have learnt many new skills. I was never one for computers, but I am slowly learning. I was also a very routine person, but I have learned to go with whatever the day throws at me and deal with it when prioritising what is urgent and what is not.

4. What do you find most rewarding about working at Rentokil Initial? Can you share any standout moments or achievements you’ve experienced while in your role? (best bits?)

Working for Ambius, the most rewarding thing is seeing our setups out there and being like, wow, this is ours! I love seeing a well-looked-after site.

I also find it rewarding to bring plants back to life. Below are some of images of plants that I have made flourish by doing my job and listening to others’ tech tips and tricks.

I used to service Transurban as an Ambius service technician. I’m super proud of what I was able to achieve there. I hand-picked my replacement for this site as it needed the correct person to take it over, and he is doing a great job.

5. How does Rentokil Initial support your career development and provide opportunities for growth?

I’ve met some great people who have really helped support my career. My manager has been fantastic. She has coached me through my new LSM role, ensuring I feel supported and pointing me in the right direction of people to speak with if I need assistance.

Meet April

Hygiene Team Leader

1. What initially attracted you to Rentokil Initial and the role you’re a part of?

I loved that the Rentokil Initial is a large global organisation and had 3 different divisions that you could work in. I really enjoy my current position as a Team Leader as I was able to get to know the team before becoming their leader, as I was their Service Planner. This made it an easy transition from a planner to Team Leader.

2. Describe a typical day in your role. What tasks and responsibilities do you handle, and how do they contribute to the overall objectives of the organisation?
I schedule my teams run daily, I answer phone calls from the team and assist in enquiries they may have over the computer. I also provide assistance with other Team Leaders and questions they may have. I can also sometimes go out on the field and install units on new customers premises. Every day is different which is the most exciting thing about my job. I answer plenty of emails and assist in meetings over Google Meets or Face to Face. Everything contributes if you are organised and stay on top of your role.
3. How has your role helped you grow both personally and professionally? Are there any specific skills or knowledge you’ve acquired during your journey?
After becoming a Team Leader, I have grown to be a bit tougher when needed. I am a very nice and caring person and don’t like being the bad guy but being in the management role you sometimes have to rise to the occasion. It has helped me with my maths skills, doing stocktake monthly, to completing the technicians pays each fortnight.
4. What do you find most rewarding about working at Rentokil Initial? Can you share any standout moments or achievements you’ve experienced while in your role? (best bits?)

I find the culture and people that work at Rentokil Initial the most rewarding. Everyone is a part of a team and we all work together to hit the targets. An Outstanding moment – My team and the technicians are proud to be working for RI and show dedication daily to myself and to the company, this is what makes me proud to be their Team Leader.

5. How does Rentokil Initial support your career development and provide opportunities for growth?
My story: I started off as a part-time filler, working in the depot and office. Then I worked my way up to be in the Business Support Team. This was an office based full-time position, I was then asked to become a Service Planner for the Initial Hygiene Team, I then worked my way up to a Team Leader. There is so much growth within Rentokil Initial, it just all depends on what you would like to do.
