Our previous Graduates have come from a wide range of academic disciplines including Commerce, International Relations, Finance, Hospitality and Hotel Management. Our Program Offers

Training

The majority of your knowledge will be gained on the tools, working your way through the different departments in our remote mining camps and in our Support Office. This will be complemented by structured learning, including management workshops, external training providers and a range of online tools to support your continued professional development.

Career progression

100% of those who have successfully completed our Future Leaders Graduate Program have stepped into a leadership role immediately after the program. We give you all the tools to succeed and then you jump in the driver’s seat.

First Nations

Compass Group recognises the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional owners of the land where we live and work.

As leaders with operations in every state and territory, Compass Group has a responsibility and an important role to play in reconciliation and closing the considerable gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians. Through strengthening our relationships with communities and deepening respect for our First Nations Peoples’ rich history, cultures and achievements, we are able to promote sustainable opportunities within our sphere of influence and be a positive driver for long-term social change.

In 2016, Reconciliation Australia commended and recognised Compass Group Australia on our demonstrated track record and commitment to leadership in driving economic and social participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through upskilling, employment, business incubation and procurement. Consequently, we were granted Elevate Reconciliation Action Plan status, recognising that our Elevate RAP raises the bar of its reconciliation ambitions and sets a fine example to others.

We are proud to be one of Australia’s largest employers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and we provide sustained career development through our upskilling, accredited training and cultural awareness programs.

Over the last 20+ years, we have established 11 Joint Venture Companies with our First Nations partners.

We currently engage over 47 Indigenous business suppliers within our Supply Chain operations. And notably, our spending with Supply Nation Indigenous-owned businesses has grown on average 180% per year since Supply Nation membership inception in 2009.

Compass Group Australia is also a proud partner of the Clontarf Foundation, which provides support, life skills and employment prospects to young Aboriginal men; Compass Group provides graduates with opportunities to receive work experience, training and employment.

Gender Equality at Compass

Compass Group Australia is committed to achieving fixed and variable pay equity, offering improved workplace flexibility and developing a talent pipeline of women into senior management roles.

In 2017 we developed our Gender Equity strategy focused on increasing the number of women in management roles to a 50:50 ratio by the end of 2020. To achieve this, Compass Group Australia established IGNITE, a leadership development program that provides high-potential women within our business with training, support, networks and executive mentors to build their confidence and ability to progress their careers and to compete equitably for senior management roles.

This highly successful program has contributed to a significant increase in our women in senior leadership roles, with 41% of the IGNITE participants progressing in their careers within the first year of attending this program.

Compass Group Australia, in partnership with the Commonwealth Department of Jobs and Small Business, also delivers a training and upskilling program called Launch into Work, specifically created to support long-term unemployed women seeking to enter or re-enter the workforce. The sustained success of this national program saw us take home the ‘Outstanding Company Initiative Large Company’ – Launch Into Work Program at The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA’s 2020 Women In Resources Award and be further nominated for the national awards.

We are proudly on track to reach our ‘women in senior management’ target of 50% in line with our 2017 strategy.
